First Painted Backdrop

Painted my first backdrop!

I had been doing some research on various processes for doing this for a while and finally got my hands dirty. I just finished it so I haven’t taken any portraits with it yet (besides the super serious one of myself when it was done). I definitely learned a lot in the process such as the effect of different tools (this was mostly done with a sponge), how to blend colors, the use of various amounts of water, etc. Some advice I gathered from others that was very useful was: 1. Don’t think too much 2. You can’t mess up and 3. Have fun. Overall it was a very enjoyable process that I’m looking forward to again (maybe a brown or grey next time) and I’m excited to take some photos with this new backdrop soon.

Thanks to Jeff Becker for letting me use his studio.
